Denmark

After a shortest flight in my life we landed in Denmark, which seemed exactly the same as Sweden. Usually when you go on trips you expect different landscape or in the best case scenario, palm trees and beaches, but Denmark looked like flatter version of Sweden. The smell was the same, money was almost the same, language is like Swedish but with potato in your mouth...no surprises.

You may ask yourself why is Copenhagen more fun than Stockholm?
Nobody ever does, but in case this tough has ever crossed your mind here is an answer; because people drink alcohol before appropriate hours (before lunch), people are not in order all the time, street art is everywhere and in its best in Christiania, streets are floated with bearded guys on cargo bikes and since it was an Eurovision weekend the fabulousness of the city increased significantly.

Christiania
We found a special shop where you can choose between buying Chinese lucky cats or plastic foetuses. I would say it’s a tough choice and things can get a bit crazy if you buy both so think it trough, this is no place for impulsive shopping.

We were able to squeeze in a bit of sightseeing, even though we spent half of the time waiting for a food or ordering it. At one of such events -waiting for a take away- nice Danish people left us a bottle of champagne which after a Paris bag hunt, became one of my favourite drinks for drowning my sorrows. This time it was just a fun pre pre-drinking before a night out.

Touristy behaviour

The most touristy thing to see in Copenhagen is without a doubt the little mermaid. Original story is quite sad and the statue is pretty small so I don't really understand the huss and fuss around it, but it’s a nice memorial of Hans Christian Andersen if nothing else. People were standing in the line to take a picture with this sad little creature, which wasn’t really something I was eager to do with my hangover. So here is a picture including a random couple that probably did much better job than I would at that point.

Better alternative in my opinion is to visit the genetically modified little mermaid, which is just a short walk away from her famous sister.

It is nice to explore the streets of Copenhagen. However the weather as in all northern countries is quite unpredictable, therefore umbrella or some plastic bag/rain coat you can snuggle in, is a must.

And if you have some extra time to kill, there is always a beautiful Tivoli.
