Why you need vacation and why traveling is not enough to enrich your life?
I love traveling! And I’m a full supporter of a long vacation with a turn off switch for a “real life” duties full of responsibility and work and all the errands one has to run week by week. Errands make me anxious and my to do list of errand sometime hunts me in my dreams. But that’s another story.
I’m writing this as I lay on a sandy beach in Italy and I’m probably 2 weeks into my vacation...not sure anymore which day it is. It feels damn good to not care about the time and this ultra marathon of relaxation that we call vacation is really important for a wave of new energy! Being on the beach in itself it’s not particularly fun when you add extreme heat, sand in every hole of your body and low intensity of events, but it’s needed...everyone needs a break!
I for one see September, not New Years, as a new beginning, and so resolutions should be made when you come home from vacation and you’re actually capable of training, eating healthy and starting a new hobby. All I want in January is a blanket and a good muffin. September is the new January 🖤
And now comes the question, if traveling is so amazing why don’t you just do it all the time! That was definitely on my mind for a big part of my 20s and it still evokes a jealousy in me when I hear about fabulous life of influences and Yoga-girl that made a fortune by living in Aruba and teaching yoga. I’m sure that fabulous life of these people is not just sitting on a beach and practicing downwards dog twice per day. So here is the catch, living a never ending traveling life style requires work and my biggest problem with that is that traveling becomes a job and looses its actual purpose. I’m far from any kind of professional traveler because every picture on instagram makes me anxious and I never fully got the point of writing a caption under a picture but I do it because if feels like it’s a part of instagram’s etiquette 🤷🏼♀️
It hit me on my vacation around Italy that as soon as I retired from amateur posting on the gram - as cool kids call it these day, I started taking in this beautiful country and leaving some space for ME! It’s so simple and I can only say bring on all the errands of this fall...I’m ready!
